Where is the marina
Villa Marina Fajardo is on the east coast of Puerto Rico in the town of Fajardo. Puerto del Rey Marina is 5 minutes south of Villa Marina, also in Fajardo and home to several catamaran operators. Both are 50 minutes east of San Juan via PR-26 and PR-3 and 20 minutes from Luquillo.
Option 1: Rental car (recommended)
Pick up a car at San Juan Airport (SJU) and drive PR-26 east to PR-3 south to Fajardo. Easy 50 minute drive with light traffic. Parking at the marina costs $5 to $10 a day. Best option for flexibility and combining Icacos with El Yunque rainforest or the Bioluminescent Bay later that night.
Option 2: Rideshare or taxi
Uber and Lyft work from San Juan to Fajardo for around $60 to $80 each way. Taxis cost $90 to $120. Practical if you do not want to drive but expensive round trip. Some operators recommend a Fajardo local for the return so book through your hotel concierge.
Option 3: Tour with hotel pickup
A handful of catamaran operators offer paid round trip transport from San Juan area resorts (Condado, Old San Juan, Isla Verde) for $30 to $50 per person. Convenient if you are staying without a car. Pickup is 7:30 to 8 am, drop off by 5:30 pm.
Option 4: Stay in Fajardo
If Cayo Icacos and El Yunque are key parts of your trip, consider staying in Fajardo or Luquillo for a couple of nights. El Conquistador Resort, Fairmont El San Juan and several smaller B&Bs put you 5 to 15 minutes from the marina. Avoids the early morning drive.
